A Taste of South Luzon: Ruins at the Fortune Island

View beyond the Ruins.

One long-stretch Saturday. We left Alabang at 3:30 AM and arrived at Nasugbu by 5:30ish. We had to be at the port by 6 in the morning to get at the Island early. Was able to take off from port few minutes past 6 after buying lunch food and paying for our entrances at the take off point.

One hour ride to the Island where there's no electricity and decent washroom. There was no shade in most part of the Island so better have your tents available or ready you're skin to be deeply sun-kissed!  This experience will not be for gadget-hogging person and those afraid of out of comfort zone, but for the ones who'll love to walk the island life, in your beach attire while touching those hot salty sands, you won't experience in your everyday life.

The beauty of the island definitely rocketed as the ruins remains standing at those peak.  Lots of picturesque areas that can burn your hours here.  There are cliff diving area where a warming shade of blue-colored reflecting water awaits.  A lighthouse at the near middle of the island is seen from afar, one can also wander through it if they wanted to.

What had my 1,500 pesos went to. I met new people. A day that seemed to be a couple of hours extended.  Food that fitted another day. We could have some booze if we opted to but it wouldn't be fair to the captain of our ride -- quits lang. The chartered boat and entrance fee are a bit pricey for an Island with no water and decent washroom.  We just took the day tour and since we went early and we've already savored the experience and although still a bit hesistant, we we're left no choice but to leave this island by 5pm.
Not so fine sand, but who cares? The experience is still the same.

How did we got there?
There are two routes to get here.  One via the Nasugbu-Ternate Road from Cavitex and the other is from Nasugbu-Tagaytay Road via Tagaytay (either from Dasmarinas, Carmona SLEX, Silang SLEX).  Since we're coming from Alabang, we opt for the Silang exit from SLEX.  Passed by Nuvali and Paseo to Tagaytay City proper going to the road to Alfonso Cavite until we reached the forked road (left: Calatagan and right: Nasugbu). Took us 2 hours with no traffic since we went there on wee morning.  Left Alabang around 3:30 in the morning. By commute, one can take the following bus terminals en route to Nasugbu:
  • Starmall Alabang terminal
  • Taft, Pasay - BSC / DLTB / JAM buses (Php 140-160)
  • Buendia - Batangas Star Express

Alight at the Nasugbu town proper or along the Municipal Hall / Jollibee.  You can ride a trike going to Fortune Island Resort  where most chartered boat take off.  Here you can charter a boat and pay the entrance fee to the island.  Alternatively, you can call boat contact to be sure of the availability.   Travel time depending on the time you travel and traffic situation but it's usually 3-4 hours coming from Pasay and around 2-3 hours from Alabang.

Where did we stay?
Either daytour or overnight, please bring your tents which act as your changing room, shade under scoring heat, and sleeping if you'll spend the night here.  If there are such thing as open tents to act us shade it would be better. lol.  There are literally near to no shaded portion on the island.  There's a dilapidated house, which seemed the reception of the once hotel at this island, which is housed by the caretaker, you can stay there to shed off the scoring sun for a while.

How much it emptied our pockets?
Expense summary                              Cost
Gas / Toll fee share                      Php 250.00
Entrance Fee                                       300.00
Chartered Boat (500 / 6 person)          500.00
Lunch / Snacks / Drinks / Others         450.00
TOTAL                                        Php 1500.00

You can still lower it with the cost of food, we over bought food like we'll be having an overnight or so and other stuff like Lays chips.
